Ignition Coil: Service and Repair




IGNITION COIL-ON-PLUG REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 3.0L

Removal and Installation

LH side

1. Remove the air cleaner (ACL). See - Service and Repair.

RH side

NOTE:The upper intake manifold must be removed to access the RH ignition coils only.
1. Remove the upper intake manifold. See - Upper Intake Manifold Removal/Installation.

Both sides

1. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connectors.

NOTE:When removing the ignition coils, a slight twisting motion will break the seal and ease removal.
2. Remove the bolts and the ignition coils.

- Tighten to 7 Nm {0.7 kgf-m, 62 in-lbf}.

3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil boots before attaching to the spark plugs.
