Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair




HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HO2S) AND CATALYST MONITOR SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - HYBRID









Removal/Installation

Both sensors

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See Lifting.

2. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) and the catalyst monitor sensor (CMS) electrical connectors.

HO2S





NOTE:If necessary, lubricate the sensor threads with penetrating and lock lubricant to assist in removal.
1. Using the Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor Socket, remove the HO2S.

- Calculate the correct torque wrench setting for the following torque.
- To install, tighten to 48 Nm {4.9 kgf-m, 35 ft-lbf}.

CMS





NOTE:If necessary, lubricate the sensor threads with penetrating and lock lubricant to assist in removal.
1. Using the Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor Socket, remove the CMS.

- Calculate the correct torque wrench setting for the following torque.
- To install, tighten to 48 Nm {4.9 kgf-m, 35 ft-lbf}.

Both sensors

NOTE:Apply a light coat of anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the HO2S and the CMS.
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
