MASS AIR FLOW (MAF) SENSOR/INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT) SENSOR NO.2 INSPECTION [WL-3]

id0140b5809200

Note
•  Perform the following inspection only when directed.

MAF Sensor Voltage Inspection

1.  Turn the engine switch to the ON position (Engine off).

2.  Set the M-MDS and monitor the MAF PID. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [WL-3].)

•  If not as specified, perform the “Circuit Open/Short Inspection”.
―  If there is no open/short circuit, replace the MAF sensor/IAT sensor No.2. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [WL-3].)
MAF PID (Reference)
below 1.0 V

3.  Start the engine and warm up the engine completely.

4.  Monitor the MAF PID at idle.

1.62.0 V

MAF Sensor CIrcuit Open/Short Inspection

1.  Disconnect the MAF sensor/IAT sensor No.2 connector.

2.  Disconnect the PCM connector. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [WL-3].)

3.  Inspect for an open or short circuit in the following wiring harnesses.

•  If there is an open or short circuit, repair or replace wiring harnesses.

Open circuit
•  Power circuit (MAF sensor/IAT sensor No.2 connector terminal A and main relay connector terminal D)
•  Signal circuit (MAF sensor/IAT sensor No.2 connector terminal C and PCM connector terminal 4E)
•  Ground circuit (MAF sensor/IAT sensor No.2 connector terminal B and body ground)
Short circuit
•  MAF sensor/IAT sensor No.2 connector terminal A and main relay connector terminal D short to ground
•  MAF sensor/IAT sensor No.2 connector terminal B and body ground short to power supply
•  MAF sensor/IAT sensor No.2 connector terminal C and PCM connector terminal 4E short to power supply
•  MAF sensor/IAT sensor No.2 connector terminal C and PCM connector terminal 4E short to ground

IAT Sensor No.2 Resistance Inspection

1.  Disconnect the MAF sensor/IAT sensor No.2 connector.

2.  Measure the resistance between MAF sensor/IAT sensor No.2 terminals D and E using an ohmmeter.

•  If not as specified, replace the MAF sensor/IAT sensor No.2.
•  If as specified, carry out the “Circuit Open/Short Inspection”.
