DTC P0053 Lambda Sensor Heater Line Error (4JJ3 with DPD)

1. DTC P0053 description

The heated oxygen sensor is installed at the inlet of the DPD assembly and detects the oxygen concentration in the exhaust gas. This sensor has a pump current circuit, reference voltage circuit, low reference circuit, and heater circuit. If the ECM detects a malfunction in the heater circuit, the DTC is set.

2. Condition for setting DTC P0053

Condition for running the DTC

  • The heated oxygen sensor heater duty is 5 to 95%.
  • DTC P0606 is not set.

Condition for setting the DTC

  • The ECM detects a malfunction in the heated oxygen sensor heater circuit for 2 seconds or more.

3. Action taken when DTC P0053 sets

  • The ECM illuminates the MIL. Refer to Action taken when DTC sets - Type A.

  • The ECM inhibits the EGR control.
  • The ECM assumes a default heated oxygen sensor value.

4. Condition for clearing DTC P0053

  • Refer to Conditions for clearing the MIL/DTC - Type A or Type B.
