1) Connect the scan tool.
2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 1 minute or more.
3) Start the engine.
4) Operate the vehicle under the conditions for running the DTC.
5) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is a DTC set?
Yes
=>Go to Heated oxygen sensor heater drive circuit check.
No
Go to Intermittent conditions of engine.
Refer to "202.Engine 15D.Symptom(4JJ3 with DPD) intermittent conditions of engine".
1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.
2) Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor harness connector (E66).
3) Connect a test lamp between the heated oxygen sensor heater drive circuit (pin 5 of E66) and the frame ground.

4) Turn ON the ignition switch. Does the test lamp illuminate?
Yes
No
=>Go to Inspection for open circuit in heated oxygen sensor heater drive circuit.
1) Inspect the heater drive circuit between the ECM (pin 3 of E1) and the heated oxygen sensor (pin 5 of E66) for an open circuit or high resistance. Is the result normal?

Repair the circuit as necessary.
1) Inspect the heater control circuit between the ECM (pin 2 of E1) and the heated oxygen sensor (pin 2 of E66) for the following. Is the result normal?

Yes

Repair the circuit as necessary.
1) Inspect for poor connections at the heated oxygen sensor harness connector (pins 2 and 5 of E66). Is the connection status normal?

Replace the heated oxygen sensor.
