DTC U0167 Lost Communication With Vehicle Immobilizer Control Module (4JJ3 without DPD)

1. Engine control system check

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(4JJ3 without DPD) Diagnostic system check-engine controls".

2. Prioritized DTC check

1) Connect the scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 1 minute or more.

3) Start the engine.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is DTC U0001 set at the same time?

Yes

Go to DTC U0001 diagnosis.

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(4JJ3 without DPD) DTC U0001 High Speed CAN Communication Bus".

No

=>Go to Wireless access module communication verification.

3. Wireless access module communication verification

1) Verify that communication can be established with the wireless access module using a scan tool. Can communication with the wireless access module be established?

Yes (Models with radar sensors/stereo cameras)

=>Go to Powertrain CAN communication circuit communication verification.

Yes (Models without radar sensors and stereo cameras)

=>Go to Wireless access module harness connector inspection.

No

Go to Lost communication with the wireless access module.

4. Powertrain CAN communication circuit communication verification

1) Verify that communication can be established between the wireless access module and the following control modules using a scan tool. Can communication with any of the control modules be established?

  • ECM
  • TCCM
  • Rear differential lock control unit
  • TCM

Yes

=>Go to Wireless access module harness connector inspection.

No

=>Go to Central gateway control system inspection.

5. Central gateway control system inspection

1) Perform the central gateway control system inspection.

Refer to "64.Body Control 10I.Troubleshooting(Central GateWay) diagnostic system check - central gateway controls".

Procedure completion

=>Go to Wireless access module harness connector inspection.

6. Wireless access module harness connector inspection

1) Inspect for poor connections at the wireless access module harness connector (pins 19 and 20 of B15 for models with Hi-Version, pins 5 and 12 of B13 except for models with Hi-Version). Is the connection status normal?

Refer to "LHD Controller Area Network (Central Gateway C/U)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Wireless access module replacement.

No

Repair the connections as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

7. Wireless access module replacement

Note

  • Perform programming after replacing the wireless access module.

8. Repair verification

1) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 1 minute or more.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
