DTC B1053[57] Vehicle Variant Missing (Air Bag (Driver/Passenger))

1. SRS system check

Refer to "58.SRS Control 8A.Troubleshooting(Air Bag (Driver/Passenger)) diagnostic system check-SRS controls".

2. SRS harness inspection

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 15 seconds or more.

2) Disconnect the SRS control unit harness connectors (B8, R5).

3) Verify that each terminal of the SRS control unit harness connector is as follows. Are the terminals properly connected?

Note

  • When the SRS control unit detects conditions other than the following, the DTC is set.
  • The vehicle model identification terminal (pin 4 of R5) is not connected to ground.
  • The passenger side SRS airbag cut off switch input terminals (pins 19 and 20 of B8) are connected to the passenger side SRS airbag cut off switch.

=>Go to SRS control unit replacement.

No

Repair or replace the SRS harness.

=>Go to Repair verification.

3. SRS control unit replacement

Note

  • Perform the VIN programming and ECU lock after replacing the SRS control unit.

Procedure completion

=>Go to Repair verification.

4. Repair verification

1) Reconnect all of the disconnected harness connectors.

2) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

3) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 15 seconds or more.

4) Turn ON the ignition switch.

5) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
