1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.
2) Disconnect the shift lock solenoid assembly harness connector from the interlock controller assembly (C72).
Refer to "LHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).
Refer to "RHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).
3) Measure the resistance between the shift lock solenoid terminals with a DMM. Is the resistance equal to the specified value?
Value: 127 Ω
Yes
No
Replace the shift lock solenoid assembly.

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.
2) Inspect the BACK UP(IG1) 7.5A fuse for a blowout. Is the result normal?
Yes
=>Go to Inspection for open circuit in ignition power supply circuit.
No
Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows out again, repair the short to ground in the circuits relating to the BACK UP(IG1) 7.5A fuse.
1) Disconnect the interlock controller assembly harness connector (C72) from the selector lever.
2) Turn ON the ignition switch.
3) Measure the voltage between the ignition power supply circuit of the inter lock controller assembly harness connector (pin 4 of C72) and the body ground with a DMM. Is the voltage more than or equal to the specified value?

Yes

Repair the open circuit or high resistance in the ignition power supply circuit between the BACK UP(IG1) 7.5A fuse and the inter lock controller assembly (pin 4 of C72).
1) Measure the voltage between the ignition power supply circuit and the ground circuit of the inter lock controller assembly harness connector (pins 4 and 7 of C72) with a DMM. Is the voltage more than or equal to the specified value?

=>Go to Inspection for open circuit in stoplight switch signal circuit.
No
Repair the open circuit or high resistance in the ground circuit between the inter lock controller assembly (pin 7 of C72) and the body ground.
1) Depress the brake pedal.
2) Measure the voltage between the stoplight switch signal circuit of the inter lock controller assembly harness connector (pin 8 of C72) and the body ground with a DMM. Is the voltage more than or equal to the specified value?

Repair the open circuit or high resistance in the stoplight switch signal circuit between the stoplight switch (pin 2 of C68) and the inter lock controller assembly (pin 8 of C72).
1) Inspect for poor connections at the interlock controller assembly harness connector (pins 4, 7, and 8 of C72). Is the result normal?

Replace the inter lock controller assembly.

Repair the connections as necessary.
1) Reconnect all of the disconnected harness connectors.
2) Turn ON the ignition switch.
3) Depress the brake pedal.
4) Check whether the selector lever can be operated from the P position. Can the selector lever be operated from the P position?
Yes
The system is normal.
No
