DTC P161B (Flash Code 179) Immobilizer Wrong Response (RZ4E-TC)

1. Engine control system check

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(RZ4E-TC) Diagnostic system check-engine controls".

2. Prioritized DTC check

1) Connect the scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds or more.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is DTC P0633, U0001, or U0167 set at the same time?

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC diagnosis.

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(RZ4E-TC) DTC U0001 (Flash Code 84) High Speed CAN Communication Bus".

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(RZ4E-TC) DTC U0167 (Flash Code 177) Lost Communication with Vehicle Immobilizer Control Module".

No

=>Go to Immobilizer-related DTC check.

3. Immobilizer-related DTC check

1) Observe the immobilizer-related DTC with a scan tool. Is the immobilizer-related DTC set?

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC diagnosis.

No

=>Go to Immobilizer security information check.

4. Immobilizer security information check

1) Program the immobilizer security information into the ECM. Is it programmed?

Refer to "1.Engine 1Z.Engine Electrical Control(RZ4E-TC) ECM setting".

Yes

=>Go to Repair verification.

No

=>Go to ECM replacement.

5. ECM replacement

Note

  • Perform programming after replacing the ECM.

Refer to "1.Engine 1Z.Engine Electrical Control(RZ4E-TC) ECM installation".

Procedure completion

=>Go to Repair verification.

6. Repair verification

1) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds or more.

3) Start the engine.

4) Operate the vehicle under the conditions for running the DTC.

5) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
