DTC P0708 (Flash Code 17) Transmission Range Switch Circuit High (AWR6B45)

1. Transmission control system check

Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) diagnostic system check-transmission controls".

2. Current DTC check

1) Connect the scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds or more.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Operate the selector lever, and hold for 5 seconds or more at each range from the P range to the D range.

5) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to Each range display check.

No

Go to Intermittent conditions of automatic transmission.

Refer to "206.Transmission, Transaxle 19D.Symptom(AWR6B45) Intermittent conditions of automatic transmission".

3. Each range display check

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the inhibitor switch harness connector (E41).

Refer to "LHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe each Transmission Range Switch parameter on the scan tool. Do all of the Transmission Range Switch parameters show OFF?

Yes

=>Go to Inspection for short circuit in signal circuit.

No

=>Go to Inspection for short to power supply in signal circuit.

4. Inspection for short circuit in signal circuit

1) Inspect the signal circuit between the TCM (pins 6, 16, 17, and 26 of E7) and the inhibitor switch (pins 1, 6, 7, and 9 of E41) for a short together. Is the result normal?

Refer to "LHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

Replace the inhibitor switch.

Refer to "5.Transmission, Transaxle 5B.Automatic(AWR6B45) inhibitor switch removal".

Refer to "5.Transmission, Transaxle 5Z.Transmission Electrical Control(AWR6B45) TCM installation".

Refer to "5.Transmission, Transaxle 5Z.Transmission Electrical Control(AWR6B45) TCM setting".

Procedure completion

=>Go to Repair verification.

7. Repair verification

1) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

Note

  • The ECM sets DTC P0700 if the TCM sets emission related DTCs. Clear the ECM DTC after clearing the TCM DTC.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds or more.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Operate the selector lever, and hold for 5 seconds or more at each range from the P range to the D range.

5) Observe each Transmission Range Switch parameter on the scan tool.

6) Observe each Transmission Range Switch parameter shows ON in accordance with the operation while operating the selector lever.

7) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
