DTC B0098[13] Rear Side Airbag Sensor(Driver Side) Disconnected (Air Bag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Roof/Knee/Far Side))

1. SRS system check

Refer to "58.SRS Control 8A.Troubleshooting(Air Bag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Roof/Knee/Far Side)) diagnostic system check-SRS controls".

2. Inspection for open circuit and short circuit in driver rear side airbag sensor (+) circuit

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 15 seconds or more.

2) Disconnect the SRS control unit harness connector (R6) and driver rear side airbag sensor harness connector (R20).

3) Inspect the driver rear side airbag sensor (+) circuit between the SRS control unit (pin 4 of R6) and the driver rear side airbag sensor (pin 2 of R20) for the following. Is the result normal?

  • Short to the power supply circuit
  • Short to ground
  • Open circuit
  • High resistance

Caution

  • If the driver rear side airbag sensor circuit is shorted to the power supply circuit, the sensor may be broken.

Yes

=>Go to Inspection for open circuit and short circuit in driver rear side airbag sensor (-) circuit.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

3. Inspection for open circuit and short circuit in driver rear side airbag sensor (-) circuit

1) Inspect the driver rear side airbag sensor (-) circuit between the SRS control unit (pin 5 of R6) and the driver rear side airbag sensor (pin 1 of R20) for the following. Is the result normal?

  • Short to the power supply circuit
  • Short to ground
  • Open circuit
  • High resistance

Caution

  • If the driver rear side airbag sensor circuit is shorted to the power supply circuit, the sensor may be broken.

Yes

=>Go to Driver rear side airbag sensor harness connector inspection.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

4. Driver rear side airbag sensor harness connector inspection

1) Inspect for poor connections at the driver rear side airbag sensor harness connector (pins 1 and 2 of R20). Is the result normal?

Refer to "RHD SRS airbag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Curtain/Knee)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to SRS control unit harness connector inspection.

No

Repair the connections as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

5. SRS control unit harness connector inspection

1) Inspect for poor connections at the SRS control unit harness connector (pins 4 and 5 of R6). Is the result normal?

Refer to "LHD SRS airbag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Curtain/Knee)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD SRS airbag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Curtain/Knee)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD SRS airbag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Curtain/Knee/Far Side)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

Replace the driver rear side airbag sensor.

Refer to "8.Restraints 8Z.Seat Belt and SRS Airbag Electrical Control rear side airbag sensor (crew cab) removal".

Refer to "8.Restraints 8Z.Seat Belt and SRS Airbag Electrical Control rear side airbag sensor (crew cab) installation".

=>Go to Current DTC check.

No

Repair the connections as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

6. Current DTC check

1) Reconnect all of the disconnected harness connectors.

2) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

3) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 15 seconds or more.

4) Perform a test drive.

5) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to SRS control unit replacement.

No

=>Go to Repair verification.

7. SRS control unit replacement

Note

  • Perform the VIN programming and ECU lock after replacing the SRS control unit.

Procedure completion

=>Go to Repair verification.

8. Repair verification

1) Reconnect all of the disconnected harness connectors.

2) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

3) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 15 seconds or more.

4) Turn ON the ignition switch.

5) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
