1. DTC P0746 description
Clutch control solenoid (SL1) is installed on the valve body assembly and adjusts the C1 clutch control oil pressure. The TCM controls clutch control solenoid (SL1) based on the information of the vehicle speed, accelerator opening position, brake signal, etc. If the TCM detects the neutral status when the gear is shifted to the D range, the DTC is set.
2. Condition for setting DTC P0746
Condition for running the DTC
- The ignition switch is ON.
- The battery voltage is 9.0 to 16.0 V.
- The engine speed is 550 rpm or more.
- The output speed is 500 rpm or less.
- The vehicle is running in the D range and the gear does not shift.
- The current gear position is 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th.
- The ATF temperature is -10°C {14°F} or more.
- DTCs P0711, P0712, P0713, U0073, and U0100 are not set.

Condition for setting the DTC
Any of the following conditions are met:
- During vehicle start-up, the difference between the engine speed and the input speed is less than 150 rpm.
- The TCM detects that the gear is in the D range and in neutral, and then it determines that the gear shifting to 5th is possible.
3. Action taken when DTC P0746 sets
- The TCM flashes the check trans warning light on the second driving cycle. Refer to Action taken when DTC sets - Type B.
Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) DTC type definitions".
- The TCM inhibits the shift timing control.
- The TCM inhibits the lock-up timing control.
- The TCM inhibits the slip lock-up control.
- The TCM inhibits the garage control.
- The TCM inhibits the self-learning control.
- The TCM inhibits the engine torque control.
- The TCM inhibits the skip gear shift control.
- All the solenoids are turned OFF.
- If the DTC is set in the D range, the gear is fixed to 3rd or 5th.
4. Condition for clearing DTC P0746
- Refer to Condition for clearing the MIL, check trans warning light/DTC - Type A or Type B.
Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) DTC type definitions".
