DTC P0746 (Flash Code 23) Pressure Control Solenoid A (SL1) Performance Or Stuck Off (AWR6B45)

1. Transmission control system check

Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) diagnostic system check-transmission controls".

2. ATF inspection

1) Inspect the ATF level and contamination.

2) Adjust or replace as necessary.

Refer to "5.Transmission, Transaxle 5B.Automatic(AWR6B45) ATF inspection".

Procedure completion

=>Go to Current DTC check.

3. Current DTC check

1) Connect the scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds or more.

3) Start the engine and drive the vehicle in the D range.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to Sensor harness inspection.

No

Go to Intermittent conditions of automatic transmission.

Refer to "206.Transmission, Transaxle 19D.Symptom(AWR6B45) Intermittent conditions of automatic transmission".

4. Sensor harness inspection

1) Inspect the circuit connecting to the output speed sensor (pins 1 and 2 of E43) for the following. Is the result normal?

  • Too close to the wiring or parts of the fuel injection system
  • Too close to any electronic device that was additionally installed

Refer to "LHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Individual harness connector inspection.

No

Repair as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

5. Individual harness connector inspection

1) Inspect for poor connections at the output speed sensor harness connector (pins 1 and 2 of E43). Is the result normal?

2) Inspect for poor connections at the TCM harness connector (pins 1 and 2 of E6). Is the result normal?

Refer to "LHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

3) Are all of the results normal?

Yes

=>Go to Inspection of output speed sensor.

No

Repair the connections as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

6. Inspection of output speed sensor

1) Inspect the output speed sensor for the following. Is the result normal?

  • Damaged sensor
  • Loose or improperly installed sensor
  • Excessive clearance
  • Foreign material passing between the output speed sensor and the parking lock gear

Yes

=>Go to Line pressure test.

No

Repair or replace as necessary.

Refer to "5.Transmission, Transaxle 5Z.Transmission Electrical Control(AWR6B45) output speed sensor installation".

=>Go to Repair verification.

7. Line pressure test

1) Perform the line pressure test. Is the line pressure within the specified range?

Refer to "206.Transmission, Transaxle 19C.Functional Inspection(AWR6B45) measurement of the automatic transmission operating pressure".

Yes

=>Go to Clutch control solenoid (SL1) inspection.

No

Repair as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

8. Clutch control solenoid (SL1) inspection

1) Inspect clutch control solenoid (SL1) in the valve body assembly. Is the result normal?

Refer to "5.Transmission, Transaxle 5B.Automatic(AWR6B45) transmission inspection".

Yes

Inspect the valve body and C1 clutch, and repair or replace as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

No

Replace the valve body assembly.

Note

  • After replacing the valve body assembly, clear the self-learning data with a scan tool.

9. Repair verification

1) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

Note

  • The ECM sets DTC P0700 if the TCM sets emission related DTCs. Clear the ECM DTC after clearing the TCM DTC.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds or more.

3) Start the engine and drive the vehicle in the D range.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
