DTC B1084[81] Lost Communication With Electric Steering Lock (Wireless Access Module (Hi-version [Passive Entry and Start System]))

1. Wireless access module system check

Refer to "71.Security and Locks Control 10S.Troubleshooting(Wireless Access Module (Hi-version [Passive Entry and Start System])) Diagnostic system check-Wireless Access Module (Hi-version[Passive Entry and Start System])".

2. Steering lock ECU battery voltage check

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the steering lock assembly harness connector (B39).

3) Connect a test lamp between the battery power supply circuit of the steering lock assembly harness connector (pin 7 of B39) and the body ground. Does the test lamp illuminate?

Yes

=>Go to Inspection for open circuit in steering lock ECU ground circuit.

No

=>Go to Inspection for open circuit and short circuit in steering lock ECU battery power supply circuit.

3. Inspection for open circuit in steering lock ECU ground circuit

1) Connect a test lamp between the ignition power supply circuit and the ground circuit of the steering lock assembly harness connector (pins 1 and 6 of B39). Does the test lamp illuminate?

Yes

=>Go to Inspection for open circuit and short circuit in steering lock ECU LIN communication circuit..

No

Repair the open circuit or high resistance in the ground circuit between the steering lock assembly (pin 1 of B39) and the body ground.

=>Go to Repair verification.

4. Inspection for open circuit and short circuit in steering lock ECU battery power supply circuit

1) Inspect the STRG LOCK(+B) 7.5A fuse. Is the result normal?

Yes

Repair the open circuit or high resistance in the battery power supply circuit between the STRG LOCK(+B) 7.5A fuse and the steering lock assembly (pin 7 of B39).

=>Go to Repair verification.

No

Replace the fuse as necessary. If the fuse blows out again, repair the short to ground in the circuits relating to the fuse.

=>Go to Repair verification.

5. Inspection for open circuit and short circuit in steering lock ECU LIN communication circuit.

1) Inspect the LIN communication circuit between the wireless access module (pin 18 of B15) and the steering lock assembly (pin 5 of B39) for the following. Is the result normal?

  • Open circuit
  • High resistance
  • Short to the power supply circuit
  • Short to ground

=>Go to Inspection of steering lock assembly harness connector.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

6. Inspection of steering lock assembly harness connector

1) Inspect for poor connections at the steering lock assembly harness connector (pins 1, 5, 6, and 7 of B39). Is the connection status normal?

Yes

Replace the steering lock assembly.

Note

  • After replacing the steering lock assembly, programming must be performed.

7. Repair verification

1) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

3) Press the engine start/stop button.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
