DTC P0500[86] Invalid Data Received from Vehicle Speed Signal (Wireless Access Module (Hi-version [Passive Entry and Start System]))

1. Wireless access module system check

Refer to "71.Security and Locks Control 10S.Troubleshooting(Wireless Access Module (Hi-version [Passive Entry and Start System])) Diagnostic system check-Wireless Access Module (Hi-version[Passive Entry and Start System])".

2. Prioritized DTC check

1) Turn ON the ignition switch.

2) Observe the DTC information for the brake control system with a scan tool. Is a wheel speed sensor DTC set?

3) Observe the DTC information for the engine control system with a scan tool. Is a vehicle speed-related DTC set?

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC diagnosis.

No

=>Go to Inspection for open circuit and short circuit in vehicle speed signal circuit.

3. Inspection for open circuit and short circuit in vehicle speed signal circuit

1) Inspect the vehicle speed signal circuit between the wireless access module (pin 13 of B14) and the EHCU (pin 2 of C13) for the following. Is the result normal?

  • Open circuit
  • High resistance
  • Short to the power supply circuit
  • Short to ground

Refer to "RHD Power Door Locks (Wireless Access Module (Hi-version))" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

2) Inspect the vehicle speed signal circuit between the wireless access module (pin 13 of B14) and the ECM (4JJ3 engine models: pin 22 of C8; RZ4E engine models: pin 19 of C7) for the following. Is the result normal?

  • Open circuit
  • High resistance
  • Short to the power supply circuit
  • Short to ground

3) Are all of the results normal?

Yes

=>Go to Wireless access module harness connector inspection.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

4. Wireless access module harness connector inspection

1) Inspect for poor connections at the wireless access module harness connector (pin 13 of B14). Is the connection status normal?

Yes

=>Go to Wireless access module replacement.

No

Repair the connections as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

5. Wireless access module replacement

Note

  • After replacing the wireless access module, programming must be performed.

6. Repair verification

1) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

3) Start the engine.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
