DTC U2012[86] Lost Communication With Smart Wiper (BCM)

1. Body control system check

Refer to "64.Body Control 10I.Troubleshooting(BCM) diagnostic system check-body controls".

2. Current DTC check

1) Connect the scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to Prioritized DTC check.

No

Go to Intermittent conditions of body control system.

Refer to "223.Body Control 36D.Symptom(BCM) intermittent conditions of body control system".

3. Prioritized DTC check

1) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is DTC B1706[11], B1706[12], B1706[14], B1706[15], B1706[49], B1706[96], B1706[98], B1706[A2], or B1706[A3] set at the same time?

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC diagnosis.

Refer to "64.Body Control 10I.Troubleshooting(BCM) DTC B1706[12] Front/Rear Wiper Output Circuit Short to Battery".

Refer to "64.Body Control 10I.Troubleshooting(BCM) DTC B1706[14] Front/Rear Wiper Output Circuit Short to Ground or Open".

Refer to "64.Body Control 10I.Troubleshooting(BCM) DTC B1706[15] Front Wiper Output Circuit Short to Battery or Open".

Refer to "64.Body Control 10I.Troubleshooting(BCM) DTC B1706[49] Front/Rear Wiper Output Circuit Internal Electronic Failure".

Refer to "64.Body Control 10I.Troubleshooting(BCM) DTC B1706[96] Front Wiper Output Circuit Component Internal Failure".

Refer to "64.Body Control 10I.Troubleshooting(BCM) DTC B1706[98] Front Wiper Output Circuit Component or System Over Temperature".

Refer to "64.Body Control 10I.Troubleshooting(BCM) DTC B1706[A2] Front Wiper Output Circuit System Voltage Low".

Refer to "64.Body Control 10I.Troubleshooting(BCM) DTC B1706[A3] Front Wiper Output Circuit System Voltage High".

No

=>Go to LIN communication circuit inspection.

4. LIN communication circuit inspection

1) Disconnect the following harness connector.

  • BCM harness connector (B18)
  • Wiper motor harness connector (C42)

2) Inspect the LIN communication circuit between the BCM (pin 11 of B18) and the wiper motor (pin 1 of C42) for the following. Is the result normal?

  • Open circuit
  • High resistance
  • Short to the power supply circuit
  • Short to ground

Refer to "RHD Body Control (4JJ3 with DPD)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Body Control (4JJ3 without DPD, RZ4E)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to BCM harness connector inspection.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

5. BCM harness connector inspection

1) Inspect for poor connections at the BCM harness connector (pin 11 of B18). Is the connection status normal?

Refer to "LHD Body Control" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Body Control (4JJ3 with DPD)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Body Control (4JJ3 without DPD, RZ4E)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to BCM replacement.

No

Repair the connections as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

6. BCM replacement

Note

  • Perform programming after replacing the BCM.

=>Go to Repair verification.

7. Repair verification

1) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds or more.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
