1) Connect the scan tool.
2) Lift up the vehicle.
3) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds or more.
4) Operate the vehicle with the following conditions met.

2WD models
5) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is a DTC set?
Yes
=>Go to Differential lock coil high-side control circuit voltage check.
No
Go to Intermittent conditions of rear differential lock control system.
Refer to "204.Driveline, Axle 17D.Symptom intermittent conditions of differential lock control system".
1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.
2) Disconnect the differential lock coil harness connector (R39).
3) Connect a test lamp between the differential lock coil high-side control circuit (pin 1 of R39) and the body ground.

4) Turn ON the ignition switch. Does the test lamp illuminate?
Yes
=>Go to Differential lock coil low-side control circuit voltage check.
No
=>Go to Inspection for open circuit in differential lock coil high-side control circuit.
1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.
2) Connect a test lamp between the high-side and low-side control circuits (pins 1 and 2 of R39) of the differential lock coil.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch. Does the test lamp illuminate?
Yes
=>Go to Differential lock coil harness connector inspection.
No
=>Go to Inspection for open circuit in differential lock coil low-side control circuit.
1) Disconnect the rear differential lock control unit harness connector (C57).
2) Inspect the differential lock coil high-side control circuit between the rear differential lock control unit (pin 8 of C57) and the differential lock coil (pin 1 of R39) for an open circuit or high resistance. Is the result normal?

=>Go to Rear differential lock control unit harness connector inspection.
No
Repair the circuit as necessary.
1) Inspect the differential lock coil low-side control circuit between the rear differential lock control unit (pin 7 of C57) and the differential lock coil (pin 2 of R39) for an open circuit or high resistance. Is the result normal?
