Lost communication with radar sensor (Radar Sensor (Left))

1. Scan tool power-up check

1) Connect the scan tool.

2) Power up the scan tool. Does the scan tool power up?

Yes

=>Go to Radar sensor (Left) communication verification.

No

Go to Scan tool does not power up.

2. Radar sensor (Left) communication verification

1) Verify that communication can be established with the radar sensor (Left) using the scan tool. Can communication with the radar sensor (Left) be established?

Yes

Go to Intermittent conditions of radar sensor system.

Refer to "233.Driver Assistance System 46D.Symptom(Radar Sensor) intermittent conditions of radar sensor system".

No

=>Go to Central gateway control unit communication verification.

3. Central gateway control unit communication verification

1) Verify communication with the central gateway control unit using the scan tool. Can communication with the central gateway control unit be established?

Yes

=>Go to Chassis CAN communication circuit communication verification.

No

Go to Lost communication with the central gateway control unit.

4. Chassis CAN communication circuit communication verification

1) Verify that communication can be established with the following control modules using a scan tool. Can communication with all the control modules be established?

  • EHCU
  • EPS control unit
  • SRS control unit
  • Information module
  • Parking aid system control unit
  • Stereo camera
  • Radar sensor (Right)

Yes

=>Go to Fuse inspection.

No

Go to Chassis CAN communication circuit inspection.

Refer to "64.Body Control 10I.Troubleshooting(Central GateWay) chassis CAN communication circuit inspection".

5. Fuse inspection

1) Inspect the ELEC(IG2) 10A fuse for a blowout. Is the result normal?

Yes

=>Go to Radar sensor (Left) harness connector inspection.

No

Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows out again, repair the short to ground in the circuits relating to the ELEC(IG2) 10A fuse.

=>Go to Repair verification.

6. Radar sensor (Left) harness connector inspection

1) Inspect for poor connections at the radar sensor (Left) harness connector (pins 1 and 6 of R41). Is the result normal?

Refer to "LHD Radar Sensor" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Radar Sensor" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Inspection for open circuit in the radar sensor (Left) power supply circuit.

No

Repair the connections as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

7. Inspection for open circuit in the radar sensor (Left) power supply circuit

1) Disconnect the radar sensor (Left) harness connector (R41).

2) Connect a test lamp between the ignition power supply circuit (pin 1 of R41) and the body ground.

Refer to "RHD Radar Sensor" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

3) Turn ON the ignition switch. Does the test lamp illuminate?

Yes

=>Go to Inspection for open circuit in radar sensor (Left) ground circuit.

No

Repair the open circuit or high resistance in the ignition power supply circuit between the ELEC(IG2) 10A fuse and the radar sensor (Left) (pin 1 of R41).

=>Go to Repair verification.

8. Inspection for open circuit in radar sensor (Left) ground circuit

1) Connect a test lamp between the ignition power supply circuit and the ground circuit (pins 1 and 6 of R41) of the radar sensor (Left) harness connector.

Refer to "LHD Radar Sensor" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Radar Sensor" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

2) Turn ON the ignition switch. Does the test lamp illuminate?

Yes

=>Go to Inspection for open circuit and short circuit in Chassis CAN communication circuit.

No

Repair the open circuit or high resistance in the ground circuit between the radar sensor (Left) (pin 6 of R41) and the body ground.

=>Go to Repair verification.

9. Inspection for open circuit and short circuit in Chassis CAN communication circuit

1) Inspect the Chassis CAN Low circuit and Chassis CAN High circuit between the radar sensor (Left) (pins 2 and 5 of R41) and the central gateway control unit (pins 1 and 2 of B41) for the following. Is the result normal?

  • Open circuit or high resistance
  • Short together between circuits
  • Short to battery or short to ignition power supply circuit
  • Short to ground

Yes

=>Go to Radar sensor (Left) replacement.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

10. Radar sensor (Left) replacement

Note

  • Perform programming after replacing the radar sensor (Left).

11. Repair verification

1) Securely connect the disconnected harness connectors.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds or more.

3) Connect the scan tool.

4) Turn ON the ignition switch.

5) Verify that communication can be established with the radar sensor (Left) using the scan tool. Can communication with the radar sensor (Left) be established?

Yes

The system is normal.

No

=>Go to Radar sensor (Left) harness connector inspection.
