EVAPORATIVE EMISSION (EVAP) CONTROL SYSTEM [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T]
id0116q4108800
Outline
• The evaporative emission control system prevents release of evaporative gas into the atmosphere.
• Evaporative gas is introduced into the intake manifold by the intake manifold vacuum or ejector, mixed with intake air, and then combusted.

Operation
• The evaporative gas passing through the purge solenoid valve recirculates evaporative gas using the following three paths according to the engine operation conditions.
-
― Non-boost range: Via purge solenoid valve and intake manifold
― Boost range: Via purge solenoid valve and ejector
― Medium boost range: Via purge solenoid valve and intake manifold, and via purge solenoid valve and ejector
Non-boost range (intake manifold vacuum is applied)
-
• In the non-boost range, the evaporative gas sent from the purge solenoid valve by the vacuum generated in the intake manifold passes through the check valve and is sent to the intake manifold.
Non-boost range: Via purge solenoid valve and intake manifold
Boost range (ejector is applied)
-
• In the boost range for the SKYACTIV-G 2.5T, the required amount of uptake of evaporative gas by the intake manifold vacuum is not possible because the pressure in the intake manifold reaches positive pressure. Therefore, evaporative gas is sent upstream of the dynamic pressure turbo (upstream of compressor) by the ejector using positive pressure air charged by the turbocharger.
Boost range: Via purge solenoid valve and ejector
Medium boost stage (both intake manifold vacuum and ejector are applied)
-
• In the medium boost range, evaporative gas is taken up from two paths; one by the vacuum generated in the intake manifold and the other by the positive pressure (ejector operation) charged by the dynamic pressure turbo.
Medium boost range: Via purge solenoid valve and intake manifold, and via purge solenoid valve and ejector
