Description

Rear mount camera internal voltage malfunction

Detection condition
•  The parking assist unit (optical) detects that the power outlet voltage of the rear mount camera is more than the specified range for a certain period of time.
Fail-safe
•  Black screen displayed when system is starting
Possible cause
•  Rear mount camera power supply circuit malfunction
―  Short to power supply in wiring harness between parking assist unit (optical) terminal U and rear mount camera terminal A
•  Rear mount camera malfunction
•  Parking assist unit (optical) malfunction

VERIFY OTHER PARKING ASSIST UNIT (OPTICAL) DTCs
•  Clear the DTC for the parking assist unit (optical) using the M-MDS.
•  Retrieve the parking assist unit (optical) DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is DTC U3000:41 or U3000:49 displayed?
Yes
Replace the parking assist unit (optical), then go to Step 4.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT REAR MOUNT CAMERA CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY
•  Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
•  Disconnect the parking assist unit (optical) connector.
•  Disconnect the rear mount camera connector.
•  Connect the negative battery terminal.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
•  Measure the voltage at the following terminals (wiring harness-side):
―  Rear mount camera terminal A
•  Is the voltage 0 V?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a common connector between the following terminals:
•  Parking assist unit (optical) terminal U—Rear mount camera terminal A
If there is a common connector:
•  Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a short to power supply.
•  Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
If there is no common connector:
•  Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to power supply.
Go to Step 4.

INSPECT REAR MOUNT CAMERA
•  Inspect the rear mount camera.
•  Is the rear mount camera normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the rear mount camera, then go to the next step.

VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED
•  Always reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Connect the negative battery terminal.
•  Clear the DTC for the parking assist unit (optical) using the M-MDS.
•  Retrieve the parking assist unit (optical) DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the parking assist unit (optical).
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
5
VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
