Description

Walk-in actuator (LH) circuit/slide motor (LH) circuit malfunction

Detection condition

•  Rear power seat control module (LH) detects a short to power supply in the walk-in actuator (LH) circuit/slide motor (LH) circuit.

Fail-safe

•  Inhibits the rear power slide function from being driven.

•  Inhibits the rear power walk-in operation seat back fold-down function from being driven.

•  Inhibits the rear power walk-in return function from being driven.

Possible cause

•  Walk-in actuator (LH) connector or terminal malfunction

•  Slide motor (LH) connector or terminal malfunction

•  Rear power seat control module (LH) connector or terminal malfunction

•  Short to power supply in wiring harness between the following terminals:

―  Rear power seat control module (LH) terminal 2C—Walk-in actuator (LH) terminal B

―  Rear power seat control module (LH) terminal 2D—Walk-in actuator (LH) terminal A

―  Rear power seat control module (LH) terminal 2A—Slide motor (LH) terminal B

―  Rear power seat control module (LH) terminal 2B—Slide motor (LH) terminal A

•  Walk-in actuator (LH) malfunction

•  Slide motor (LH) malfunction

•  Rear power seat control module (LH) malfunction

Detection condition	• Rear power seat control module (LH) detects a short to power supply in the walk-in actuator (LH) circuit/slide motor (LH) circuit.
Fail-safe	• Inhibits the rear power slide function from being driven. • Inhibits the rear power walk-in operation seat back fold-down function from being driven. • Inhibits the rear power walk-in return function from being driven.

•  Switch the ignition off.

•  Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
(See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

•  Disconnect the walk-in actuator (LH) connector.

•  Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.

•  Is the connector normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the connector and/or terminals, then go to Step 8.

INSPECT SLIDE MOTOR (LH) CONNECTOR CONDITION

•  Disconnect the slide motor (LH) connector.

•  Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.

•  Is the connector normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the connector and/or terminals, then go to Step 8.

INSPECT REAR POWER SEAT CONTROL MODULE (LH) CONNECTOR CONDITION

•  Disconnect the rear power seat control module (LH) connector.

•  Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.

•  Is the connector normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the connector and/or terminals, then go to Step 8.

INSPECT WALK-IN ACTUATOR (LH) CIRCUIT/SLIDE MOTOR (LH) CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY

•  Verify that the slide motor (LH), walk-in actuator (LH), and rear power seat control module (LH) connectors are disconnected.

•  Connect the negative battery terminal.
(See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).

•  Measure the voltage at the following terminals (wiring harness-side):

―  Rear power seat control module (LH) terminal 2C

―  Rear power seat control module (LH) terminal 2D

―  Rear power seat control module (LH) terminal 2A

―  Rear power seat control module (LH) terminal 2B

•  Is the voltage 0 V?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a common connector between the following circuits:

•  Rear power seat control module (LH) terminal 2C—Walk-in actuator (LH) terminal B

•  Rear power seat control module (LH) terminal 2D—Walk-in actuator (LH) terminal A

•  Rear power seat control module (LH) terminal 2A—Slide motor (LH) terminal B

•  Rear power seat control module (LH) terminal 2B—Slide motor (LH) terminal A

If there is a common connector:

•  Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a short to power supply.

•  Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.

If there is no common connector:

•  Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to power supply.

Go to Step 8.

INSPECT WALK-IN ACTUATOR (LH)

•  Inspect the walk-in actuator (LH).
(See WALK-IN ACTUATOR INSPECTION.)

•  Is the part normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the second-row seat (LH), then go to Step 8.

(See SECOND-ROW SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

INSPECT SLIDE MOTOR (LH)

•  Inspect the slide motor (LH).
(See SLIDE MOTOR INSPECTION.)

•  Is the part normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the second-row seat (LH), then go to Step 8.

(See SECOND-ROW SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

INSPECT REAR POWER SEAT CONTROL MODULE (LH)

•  Inspect the rear power seat control module (LH).
(See REAR POWER SEAT CONTROL MODULE (LH) INSPECTION.)

•  Is the part normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the second-row seat (LH), then go to the next step.

(See SECOND-ROW SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED

•  Reconnect all the disconnected connectors with the negative battery terminal disconnected.

•  Connect the negative battery terminal.
(See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

•  Clear the DTC for the rear power seat control module (LH) using the M-MDS.
(See CLEARING DTC [REAR POWER SEAT CONTROL MODULE (LH)].)

•  Retrieve the rear power seat control module (LH) DTCs using the M-MDS.
(See DTC INSPECTION [REAR POWER SEAT CONTROL MODULE (LH)].)

•  Is the same Pending DTC present?

Yes

Repeat the inspection from Step 1.

•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the second-row seat (LH).
(See SECOND-ROW SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

•  Are any other DTCs displayed?

Yes

Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

2		No	Repair or replace the connector and/or terminals, then go to Step 8.
3	INSPECT REAR POWER SEAT CONTROL MODULE (LH) CONNECTOR CONDITION • Disconnect the rear power seat control module (LH) connector. • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection. • Is the connector normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Repair or replace the connector and/or terminals, then go to Step 8.
4	INSPECT WALK-IN ACTUATOR (LH) CIRCUIT/SLIDE MOTOR (LH) CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY • Verify that the slide motor (LH), walk-in actuator (LH), and rear power seat control module (LH) connectors are disconnected. • Connect the negative battery terminal. 5	INSPECT WALK-IN ACTUATOR (LH) • Inspect the walk-in actuator (LH). (See WALK-IN ACTUATOR INSPECTION.) • Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
5		No	Replace the second-row seat (LH), then go to Step 8. (See SECOND-ROW SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
6	INSPECT SLIDE MOTOR (LH) • Inspect the slide motor (LH). (See SLIDE MOTOR INSPECTION.) • Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
6		No	Replace the second-row seat (LH), then go to Step 8. (See SECOND-ROW SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
7	INSPECT REAR POWER SEAT CONTROL MODULE (LH) • Inspect the rear power seat control module (LH). (See REAR POWER SEAT CONTROL MODULE (LH) INSPECTION.) • Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
7		No	Replace the second-row seat (LH), then go to the next step. (See SECOND-ROW SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
8	VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED • Reconnect all the disconnected connectors with the negative battery terminal disconnected. • Connect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.) • Clear the DTC for the rear power seat control module (LH) using the M-MDS.
