M range position indicator light does not illuminate in M range/M range position indicator light illuminate in D range
DESCRIPTION
•  M range position indicator light in instrument cluster does not illuminate in M range or M range position indicator light illuminates in D range with the ignition switch is ON position.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  M range switch (built-in selector lever component) malfunction.
•  Open or short circuit in wiring harness between manual switch and TCM.
Note
•  Before following the troubleshooting steps, make sure that the Automatic Transaxle On-Board Diagnostic and Automatic Transaxle Basic Inspection are conducted. (See BASIC INSPECTION [AW6A-EL, AW6AX-EL].)

•  Access the TCM PID MNL SW using the M-MDS,
•  Monitor the MNL SW PID with move the selector lever to all position and range.
•  Does the MNL SW PID indicate property?
Yes
Go to the Step 3.
No
Go to the next step.

•  Inspect the M range switch.
•  Is the M range switch normal?
Yes
Inspect for the continuity between the selector lever component terminal A and TCM terminal A.
Repair or replace the any malfunctioning parts.
No
Replace the selector lever component.

•  Inspect the instrument cluster.
•  Is instrument cluster normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the instrument cluster.

•  Verify test results.
―  If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms.
―  If the malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Information and perform repair or diagnosis.
•  If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting is completed.
•  If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace the TCM.
