Detection condition
|
• Forward sensing camera (FSC) detects that the FOW/LDWS switch is held pressed for 30 s or more.
|
Fail-safe
|
• Inhibits the lane departure warning system (LDWS).
• Inhibits the forward obstruction warning (FOW) system.
|
Possible cause
|
• Instrument cluster DTC is stored.
• Cluster switch connector or terminal malfunction
• FOW/LDWS switch malfunction
• Instrument cluster connector or terminal malfunction
• Short to ground in wiring harness between cluster switch terminal H and instrument cluster terminal 1Q
• Instrument cluster malfunction
• Forward sensing camera (FSC) malfunction

• Retrieve the instrument cluster DTCs using the M-MDS.
• Are any DTCs displayed?

Yes

Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

No
|
Go to the next step.

INSPECT CLUSTER SWITCH CONNECTOR
• Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the cluster switch connector.
• Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
• Is there any malfunction?

Yes
|
Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 7.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FOW/LDWS SWITCH
• Inspect the FOW/LDWS switch.
(See FOW/LDWS SWITCH INSPECTION.)
• Is there any malfunction?
|
Yes
|
Replace the cluster switch, then go to Step 7.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.

INSPECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CONNECTOR
• Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
• Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
• Is there any malfunction?

Yes
|
Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 7.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND IN FOW/LDWS SWITCH CIRCUIT
• Verify that the cluster switch and instrument cluster connectors are disconnected.
• Inspect for continuity between cluster switch terminal H (wiring harness-side) and body ground.
• Is there continuity?

Yes
|
Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to ground, then go to Step 7.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

PERFORM DTC INSPECTION AND VERIFY IF MALFUNCTIONING PART IS INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Clear the DTC for the forward sensing camera (FSC) using the M-MDS.
• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and wait for 31.5 s or more.
• Retrieve the forward sensing camera (FSC) DTCs using the M-MDS.
• Is the same DTC displayed?

Yes
|
Replace the instrument cluster, then go to the next step.
|
No
|
Go to Step 8.
|

VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Clear the DTC for the forward sensing camera (FSC) using the M-MDS.
• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and wait for 31.5 s or more.
• Retrieve the forward sensing camera (FSC) DTCs using the M-MDS.
• Is the same DTC displayed?
|
Yes
|
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
• If the malfunction recurs, replace the forward sensing camera (FSC).
Go to the next step.

No
|
Go to the next step.

|
VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
• Are any other DTCs displayed?
|
Yes
|
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
|
No
|
DTC troubleshooting completed.
