TORSION BEAM AXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Warning
•  If the vehicle is driven without ending maintenance mode, it could result in an accident. After performing the maintenance mode work, always end maintenance mode.
Caution
•  When performing the procedure while the vehicle is on the ground, block the front and rear wheels using wheel blocks. Otherwise, the vehicle may move when the electric parking brake is released.
•  Performing the following procedures could cause an open circuit in the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness if it is pulled by mistake. Before servicing, disconnect the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor and set it aside so that the wiring harness will not be pulled by mistake.

1.  Switch to the maintenance mode. (See MAINTENANCE MODE.)

2.  Disconnect the lead-acid battery negative terminal. (See LEAD-ACID BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Remove the wheel and tire. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Disconnect the electric parking brake motor gear unit connector. (See ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE MOTOR GEAR UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Remove the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor and the bracket from the wheel hub component.

6.  Remove the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness and set it aside so that it does not interfere with the servicing.

7.  Remove the following parts.

(1)  Rear brake caliper component (See REAR BRAKE DISC REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(2)  Rear disc plate (See REAR BRAKE DISC REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Wheel hub component (See WHEEL HUB COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(4)  Dust cover (See WHEEL HUB COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

8.  Remove the floor under cover No.4. (See FLOOR UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

9.  Remove the protector.

10.  Remove the bracket.

11.  Support the torsion beam axle using a jack.

Warning
•  If the torsion beam axle falls off while it is removed/installed, it may cause serious injury or death, or vehicle damage. Always use a jack when removing/installing the torsion beam axle and verify that it is securely supported.

12.  Remove the rear coil spring. (See REAR COIL SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

13.  Remove in the order shown in the figure.

14.  Lower the jack slowly and remove the torsion beam axle.

15.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

16.  End the maintenance mode. (See MAINTENANCE MODE.)
