Replacement Part

EV Transaxle [A71M] (LH)

1.  Remove the wheel and tire. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2.  Remove the front under cover No.2. (See FRONT UNDER COVER No.2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Remove the front deflector. (See DEFLECTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the fasteners shown in the figure and slightly bend back the front over fender.

5.  Remove the fasteners shown in the figure and slightly bend back the front mudguard.

6.  Remove the front splash shield. (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

7.  Drain the ATF. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT [A71M].)

8.  Disconnect the front drive shaft (LH) from the EV transaxle. (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

9.  Remove the oil seal using a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver.

10.  Using the SSTs and a hammer, install a new oil seal.

11.  Coat the lip of the oil seal with ATF.

Caution

•  The oil seal is easily damaged by the sharp edges of the drive shaft splines. Do not let the splines contact the oil seal.

12.  Connect the front drive shaft (LH) to the EV transaxle. (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

13.  Add the ATF. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT [A71M].)

14.  Install the front splash shield. (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

15.  Install the fasteners show in the figure.

18.  Install the front under cover No.2. (See FRONT UNDER COVER No.2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

19.  Install the wheel and tire. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

EV Transaxle [A71M] (RH)

1.  Remove the wheel and tire. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2.  Remove the front under cover No.2. (See FRONT UNDER COVER No.2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Remove the front deflector. (See DEFLECTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the fasteners shown in the figure and slightly bend back the front over fender.

5.  Remove the fasteners shown in the figure and slightly bend back the front mudguard.

6.  Remove the front splash shield. (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

9.  Remove the oil seal using a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver.

10.  Using the SSTs and a hammer, install a new oil seal.

11.  Coat the lip of the oil seal with ATF.

Caution
