1.  Disconnect the negative lead-acid battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE LEAD-ACID BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Collect the refrigerant. (See REFRIGERANT RECOVERY.)

3.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Flexible hose No.3, No.4, and No.5 (See FLEXIBLE HOSE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(2)  Heat pump valve component No.2 (See HEAT PUMP VALVE COMPONENT No.2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Disconnect the wiring harness clips and connector.

Caution
•  If you directly pinch and fix the block with pliers it may be damaged. When fixing the block with pliers wrap a clean cloth around the block when working.

5.  Secure the female side block with pliers and remove the bolt. (See Bolt Installation Note.)

6.  Disconnect the flexible hose being careful not to allow compressor oil to spill.

7.  Remove the nuts.

8.  Remove the accumulator being careful not to allow compressor oil to spill. (See Bolt Installation Note.)

9.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

10.  Charge the refrigerant. (See REFRIGERANT CHARGING.)

11.  Perform the air-conditioning system performance test. (See REFRIGERANT SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST.)


Bolt Installation Note

1.  Apply compressor oil to the O-ring at the connection.

2.  Perform initial tightening of bolts fully by hand.


Accumulator Installation Note

Caution
•  Compressor oil has high moisture absorbency so if left for a long time, it absorbs moisture, which may lead to a decrease in A/C performance. Drain and refill the compressor oil within 10 min.

1.  When replacing the accumulator, perform the following procedure.

(1)  Tilt the old accumulator to drain the oil into a clean measuring container through the IN port.

(2)  Return the accumulator to its original posture when the oil no longer comes out.
(3)  Repeat Steps 1 and 2 three or four times until no oil comes out.
(4)  Prepare the same amount of oil (new oil) as the drained oil.
(5)  Add 10 ml {10 cc, 0.34 US fl oz} of new oil to the new oil prepared in Step 4.
(6)  Fill the new accumulator with the oil prepared in Step 5 through the IN port.
