Warning
•  Handling a seat equipped with a side air bag improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions in the Workshop Manual before handling a front seat equipped with a side air bag. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM (E)].) •  If the sliding mechanisms on both sides are not locked after assembling the front seat, the front seat may operate accidentally while the vehicle is driven, which could result in serious injury. After assembling the front seat, try moving it back and forth to verify that the sliding mechanisms on both sides are locked. (With manual seat)
Caution
•  When removing the front seat, remove it with its seat back locked.
•  After the front seat has been removed, if the slider lever is operated and the front seat is reinstalled with the left/right slide positions deviated, the adjuster unit could be damaged. After removing a front seat, do not operate the slider lever. (With manual seat)

•  Verify that there are no malfunctions in the forward/back slide of the seat and in the adjuster unit after installing a front seat.
•  When performing the procedure with a front seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure on a clean cloth so as not to damage or soil the seat.

1.  Remove the front seat installation bolts. (With power seat) (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)

2.  Switch the main power OFF.

3.  Disconnect the negative lead-acid battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE LEAD-ACID BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

4.  Remove the head restraint.

5.  Remove the front seat under cover. (With power seat) (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)])

6.  Remove the front seat. (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)

7.  Remove the walk in switch outer bezel. (With power seat) (See WALK IN SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION)

8.  Remove the front seat side cover. (See FRONT SEAT SIDE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)

9.  Remove the front seat back trim. (See FRONT SEAT BACK TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)

10.  Remove the side air bag module for front passenger. (See SIDE AIR BAG MODULE FOR FRONT PASSENGER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM (E)].)

11.  Remove the far side air bag module. (See FAR SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM (E)].)

12.  Disconnect the lumbar support connector. (With power seat)

13.  Disassemble in the order shown in the figure.

14.  Assemble in the reverse order of disassembly.
