Warning
<<High voltage>>
•  If the necessary measures are not taken before servicing an electric vehicle, it could cause electrical shock and result in serious injury or, in the worst case, death. Before servicing the electric vehicle, refer to [HIGH VOLTAGE SERVICE CAUTIONS] in the general information and implement the necessary measures. (See HIGH VOLTAGE SERVICE CAUTIONS.)

High Voltage Part Inspection And Removal/Installation Notes

Warning
<<High voltage>>
•  If necessary measures such as wearing the correct protective gear are not taken when inspecting or removing/installing the high voltage parts, it could cause electrical shock and result in serious injury or, in the worst case, death.
•  Before inspecting or removing/installing the high voltage parts, refer to [HIGH VOLTAGE SERVICE CAUTIONS] in the general information and [High Voltage Part Inspection and Removal/Installation Notes] of the high voltage system service cautions and implement the necessary measures and preparations. (See HIGH VOLTAGE SERVICE CAUTIONS.) (See HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS.)
Warning
<<High voltage>>
•  Inspections that require installation/removal of the high voltage battery cover cannot be performed because the high voltage battery cannot be disassembled. Perform the operation inspection and troubleshooting on the DTCs output by the PCM and BECM. (See DTC INSPECTION.)

Operation Inspection

1.  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

2.  Monitor BECM PIDs [HV_BATT_TEMP_MODULE_1] to [HV_BATT_TEMP_MODULE_16].

(See PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION.) (See PID/DATA MONITOR TABLE [BECM (e-SKYACTIV)].)

Warning
<<High voltage>>
•  Do not operate the high voltage battery heater for a long period. Long-period operations may not only progress deterioration of the high voltage battery but also cause ignition due to thermal runaway.

3.  Operate the high voltage battery heater for 10 s using BECM simulation item [BATT_HEAT_COMD].

(See SIMULATION INSPECTION.) (See ACTIVE COMMAND MODES TABLE [BECM (e-SKYACTIV)].)

4.  Verify that PIDs [HV_BATT_TEMP_MODULE_1] to [HV_BATT_TEMP_MODULE_16] increase after operating the battery heater.

•  If no increase can be verified in PIDs [HV_BATT_TEMP_MODULE_1] to [HV_BATT_TEMP_MODULE_16], replace the high voltage battery. (See HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
•  If there is no malfunction, perform the DTC inspection.

DTC Inspection

1.  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

2.  Perform the PCM and BECM DTC inspection using the M-MDS, and if an high voltage battery related DTC is output, repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

(See DTC INSPECTION.) (See DTC TABLE [PCM (e-SKYACTIV)].) (See DTC TABLE [BECM (e-SKYACTIV)].)
