Rear roof link motor (RH) operation time-out

Detection condition

•  The retractable hardtop control module detects that the rear roof link motor (RH) is operating for 10 s or more.

Fail-safe

•  Stops retractable hardtop operation

Possible cause

•  Foreign matter penetrates rear roof link

•  Rear roof link motor (RH) malfunction

•  Retractable hardtop control module malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

Step	Inspection		Action
1	VERIFY OTHER RETRACTABLE HARDTOP CONTROL MODULE DTCs • Clear the DTC for the retractable hardtop control module using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [RETRACTABLE HARDTOP CONTROL MODULE].) • Retrieve the retractable hardtop control module DTCs using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [RETRACTABLE HARDTOP CONTROL MODULE].) • Is the DTCs U3000:44/U3000:45/U3000:49 displayed?	Yes	Replace the retractable hardtop control module, then go to Step 4. (See RETRACTABLE HARDTOP CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	INSPECT REAR ROOF LINK • Visually inspect the rear roof link for foreign matter. • Has foreign matter penetrated the rear roof link?	Yes	Remove foreign matter from the rear roof link, then go to Step 4.
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	INSPECT REAR ROOF LINK MOTOR (RH) • Inspect the rear roof link motor (RH). (See REAR ROOF LINK MOTOR INSPECTION.) • Is the rear roof link motor (RH) normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Replace the rear roof link motor (RH), then go to the next step. (See REAR ROOF LINK MOTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4	VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED • Clear the DTC for the retractable hardtop control module using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [RETRACTABLE HARDTOP CONTROL MODULE].) • Retrieve the retractable hardtop control module DTCs using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [RETRACTABLE HARDTOP CONTROL MODULE].) • Is the same Pending DTC present?	Yes	Repeat the inspection from Step 1. • If the malfunction recurs, replace the retractable hardtop control module. (See RETRACTABLE HARDTOP CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.) Go to the next step.
4		No	Go to the next step.
5	VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED • Are any other DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [RETRACTABLE HARDTOP CONTROL MODULE].)
5		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
