Diagnostic Procedure
Step |
Inspection |
Action |
---|---|---|---|
1
VERIFY ULTRASONIC SENSOR CONDITION
• Visually inspect the ultrasonic sensor condition.
• Is there any dirt, damage (scratch, deformation), and freezing on the sensor?
Yes
If there is any dirt or ice adhesion:
• Remove any dirt or ice and verify if the malfunction recurs.
• If the malfunction recurs, go to the next step.
If there is any damage:
• Replace the sensor.
No
Go to the next step.

2
INSPECT CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION
• Verify the connector connection conditions of the parking sensor control module, ultrasonic sensor short-cord, and ultrasonic sensor.
• Are the connection conditions normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.

INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN PARKING SENSOR CONTROL MODULE AND ULTRASONIC SENSOR FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
• Switch the ignition off.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the connectors of the ultrasonic sensor and parking sensor control module.
• Inspect for continuity between the following wiring harnesses:
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
• Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a mid-connector between the parking sensor control module and ultrasonic sensor.
If there is a mid-connector
If there is no mid-connector

INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN PARKING SENSOR CONTROL MODULE AND ULTRASONIC SENSOR FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Inspect for continuity between the following wiring harnesses:
• Is there continuity?
Yes
• Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a mid-connector between the parking sensor control module and ultrasonic sensor.
If there is a mid-connector
If there is no mid-connector
No
Go to the next step.

DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS ULTRASONIC SENSOR OR PARKING SENSOR CONTROL MODULE
• Reconnect all the disconnected connectors.
• Connect the negative battery cable.
• Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
• Selector lever (AT)/Shift lever (MT) is in the R position.
• Refer to the parking sensor control module inspection and verify the generated pulse for each sensor.
• Can the generated pulse be verified?
Yes
Replace the parking sensor control module.
No
Replace the ultrasonic sensor.
