SEAT BACK CROSSMEMBER ASSEMBLY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1.  Using the retractable hardtop switch, keep the front roof half-open. (retractable hardtop)

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Selector lever knob (AT) (See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2)  Shift lever knob (MT)

(3)  Shift panel assembly (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(4)  Upper panel (See UPPER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(5)  Parking brake lever boot panel (See PARKING BRAKE LEVER BOOT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(6)  Rear console (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(7)  Scuff plate (See SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(8)  Wind blocker (See WIND BLOCKER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(9)  Quarter trim (See QUARTER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(10)  Tire house trim (See TIRE HOUSE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(11)  Front seat back bar garnish (See SEAT BACK BAR GARNISH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(12)  Rear side trim (See REAR SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(13)  Roof hook lever (convertible top) (See ROOF HOOK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(14)  Back trim (See BACK TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the seat belt retractor installation bolts and set aside the seat belt retractor. (See SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Remove the retractable hardtop control module from the seat back crossmember assembly and set it aside so that it does not interfere with the servicing. (retractable hardtop)

6.  Remove the lock bracket. (See LOCK BRACKET REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

7.  While pulling the hookin the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, move the wire case in the direction fo arrow (2) and open the wire case. (retractable hardtop)

8.  Disconnect the wire. (retractable hardtop)

9.  Remove the bolts.

10.  Remove the bolts.

11.  Remove the bolts.

12.  Remove the seat back crossmember assembly.

13.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
