ROOF HOOK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Convertible Top
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
2. While pressing tabs in the direction of arrows (1), remove the roof hook lever in the direction of arrow (2).
3. Remove the following parts:
- (1) Selector lever knob (AT) (See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (2) Shift lever knob (MT)
- (3) Shift panel assembly (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (4) Upper panel (See UPPER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (5) Parking brake lever boot panel (See PARKING BRAKE LEVER BOOT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (6) Rear console (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (7) Scuff plate (See SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (8) Tire house trim (See TIRE HOUSE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (9) Wind blocker (See WIND BLOCKER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (10) Front seat back bar garnish (See SEAT BACK BAR GARNISH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (11) Quarter trim (See QUARTER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (12) Back trim (See BACK TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4. Remove the bolts.
5. Remove the roof hook.
6. Install in the reverse order of removal. (See Roof Hook Lever Installation Note.)
Retractable Hardtop
1. Using the retractable hardtop switch, keep the front roof half-open.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
3. Remove the following parts:
- (1) Selector lever knob (AT) (See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (2) Shift lever knob (MT)
- (3) Shift panel assembly (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (4) Upper panel (See UPPER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (5) Parking brake lever boot panel (See PARKING BRAKE LEVER BOOT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (6) Rear console (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (7) Scuff plate (See SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (8) Wind blocker (See WIND BLOCKER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (9) Front seat back bar garnish (See SEAT BACK BAR GARNISH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (10) Quarter trim (See QUARTER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (11) Tire house trim (See TIRE HOUSE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (12) Back trim (See BACK TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (13) Rear side trim (See REAR SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4. Remove the seat belt retractor installation bolts and set aside the seat belt retractor. (See SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
5. Remove the lock bracket. (See LOCK BRACKET REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
6. Remove the retractable hardtop control module from the seat back crossmember assembly and set it aside so that it does not interfere with the servicing. (See RETRACTABLE HARDTOP CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
7. Remove the seat back crossmember assembly. (See SEAT BACK CROSSMEMBER ASSEMBLY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
8. Remove the seat back bar lower garnish. (See SEAT BACK BAR LOWER GARNISH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
9. Remove the screws.
10. Remove the nuts.
11. Remove the roof hook.
12. Install in the reverse order of removal.
Roof Hook Lever Installation Note

• If the roof hook lever is installed incorrectly when installing it to the roof hook, the roof hook tabs may be damaged. When installing the roof hook lever, install it while thoroughly verifying the installation area.
1. When installing the roof hook lever, perform the following procedure:
1. Align the guides with the roof hook grooves, and insert them to install the roof hook lever.
2. Verify that there is no gap between the back trim and the roof hook lever.

• If there is a gap between the back trim and the roof hook lever, remove the roof hook lever and reinstall it.
• If any of the roof hook lever tabs are damaged, replace them with new ones.
