Selector Lever Inspection

1.  Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

2.  Shift the selector lever to each position and inspect the selector lever.

•  If there is any malfunction, adjust the selector cable. (See SELECTOR CABLE ADJUSTMENT.)
(1)  Verify that the selector lever can be operated as shown in the figure.

(2)  Verify that the selector lever can be operated smoothly and moderately.


Selector Lever Illumination Light Inspection

1.  Disconnect the selector lever component connector.

(1)  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
(2)  Remove the side wall. (See SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Remove the front console component. (See FRONT CONSOLE COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(4)  Disconnect the selector lever component connector.

2.  Verify continuity as indicated in the table.

•  If there is any malfunction, replace the selector lever. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Type B

There is continuity between terminals E and F.
There is continuity between terminals C and D.


Shift Lock System Inspection

1.  Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

2.  Shift the selector lever to the P position.

3.  Inspect the shift lock system.

•  If there is any malfunction, inspect the interlock cable. (See INTERLOCK CABLE INSPECTION.)
(1)  Verify that the selector lever cannot be shifted from P to other positions when the brake pedal is released.
(2)  Verify that the selector lever can be shifted from P to other positions when the brake pedal is depressed.


Key Interlock System Inspection

1.  Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

2.  Inspect the key interlock system.

•  If there is any malfunction, inspect the interlock cable. (See INTERLOCK CABLE INSPECTION.)
(1)  Verify that the ignition key cannot be turned to the LOCK position when the selector lever is not in the P position.
(2)  Verify that the ignition key can be turned to the LOCK position when the selector lever is in the P position.
