Malfunction Location

• Windshield wiper switch circuit malfunction

Detection Condition

• Short to ground in wiring harness between windshield wiper switch (windsheld wiper INT) and BCM

Possible Causes

• DTC inspection is performed with windshield wiper switch on

• Connection malfunction with connector

• Short to ground in wiring harness between windshield wiper switch terminal E and BCM terminal 6S

• Windshield wiper switch malfunction

• BCM malfunction

PERFORM DTC INSPECTION

•  Clear DTCs using the M-MDS.
(See CLEARING DTC [BCM].)

•  Turn the windshield wiper switch off.

•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
(See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)

•  Is DTC B1008:11 displayed?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.

VERIFY WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH CONNECTOR CONDITION

•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

•  Disconnect the wiper and washer switch connector.

•  Inspect the connection condition and wiring harness.

•  Are the connector terminals normal without damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the connector, then go to the final step.

VERIFY WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH CONDITION

•  Remove the windshield wiper switch.
(See WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

•  Inspect the windshield wiper switch.
(See WINDSHIELD WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH INSPECTION.)

•  Is the windshield wiper switch normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the wiper and washer switch, then go to the final step.

VERIFY BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION

•  Disconnect the BCM connector.

•  Inspect the connection condition and wiring harness.

•  Are the connector terminals normal without damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the connector, then go to the final step.

VERIFY WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH AND BCM FOR SHORT TO GROUND

•  Inspect for continuity between the BCM terminal 6S and body ground.

•  Is there continuity?

Yes

Repair or replace the related wiring harness, then go to the final step.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED

•  Connect all the connectors.

•  Connect the battery cable.

•  Clear DTCs using the M-MDS.
(See CLEARING DTC [BCM].)

•  Turn the windshield wiper switch off.

•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
(See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)

•  Is DTC B1008:11 displayed?

Yes

Replace the BCM.

(See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.

Yes	Go to the next step.
2		No	Repair or replace the connector, then go to the final step.
3	VERIFY WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH CONDITION • Remove the windshield wiper switch. (See WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.) • Inspect the windshield wiper switch. (See WINDSHIELD WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH INSPECTION.) • Is the windshield wiper switch normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Replace the wiper and washer switch, then go to the final step. (See WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4	VERIFY BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION • Disconnect the BCM connector. • Inspect the connection condition and wiring harness. • Are the connector terminals normal without damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Repair or replace the connector, then go to the final step.
5	VERIFY WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH AND BCM FOR SHORT TO GROUND • Inspect for continuity between the BCM terminal 6S and body ground. • Is there continuity?	Yes	Repair or replace the related wiring harness, then go to the final step.
5		No	Go to the next step.
6	VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED • Connect all the connectors. • Connect the battery cable. • Clear DTCs using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [BCM].) • Turn the windshield wiper switch off. • Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].) • Is DTC B1008:11 displayed?	Yes	Replace the BCM. (See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
6		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
