EGR calibration low - performance or incorrect operation

DETECTION CONDITION

•  After the EGR valve learning is implemented, if the learning is unsuccessful even after 2 s or more have elapsed, the PCM determines that the EGR valve has a problem.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

•  Exhaust gas recirculation valve learned values reset procedure improperly

•  EGR valve stuck in open or closed position

•  EGR valve position sensor malfunction

•  EGR valve actuator malfunction

•  PCM malfunction

DETECTION CONDITION	• After the EGR valve learning is implemented, if the learning is unsuccessful even after 2 s or more have elapsed, the PCM determines that the EGR valve has a problem.

Diagnostic procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED • Has the FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.
2	VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY • Verify related service repair information availability. • Is any related repair information available?	Yes	Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information. • If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	VERIFY RELATED PENDING CODE AND/OR DTC • Switch the ignition to ON (engine off). • Perform the Pending Trouble Code Access Procedure and DTC Reading Procedure. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [MZ-CD 1.6].) • Is the other PENDING CODE/DTC also present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [MZ-CD 1.6].)
3		No	Go to the next step.
4	PERFORM EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE LEARNED VALUES RESET • Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS. • Perform the EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE LEARNED VALUES RESET procedures. (See EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE LEARNED VALUES RESET [MZ-CD 1.6].) • Run the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA stored condition. • Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Troubleshooting is completed. Go to Step 8.
5	VISUALLY INSPECT EGR VALVE FOR CONTAMINATION • Remove the EGR valve component. (See EGR VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6].) • Visually inspect EGR valve. • Is there any contamination?	Yes	Clean the EGR valve, then go to Step 7.
5		No	Go to the next step.
6	INSPECT EGR VALVE POSITION SENSOR • Inspect the EGR valve position sensor. (See EGR VALVE POSITION SENSOR INSPECTION [MZ-CD 1.6].) • Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Replace the EGR valve component, then go to the next step. (See EGR VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6].)
6		No	Go to the next step.
7	VERIFY THAT DTC P1305:92 TROUBLESHOOTING IS COMPLETED • Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors. • Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS. • Run the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA stored condition. • Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Repeat the inspection from Step 1. • If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6].) Go to the next step.
7		No	Go to the next step.
8	VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE • Perform the after repair procedure. (See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE [MZ-CD 1.6].) • Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [MZ-CD 1.6].)
8		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
