Battery power supply

DETECTION CONDITION

•  U3003:16

―  Voltage lower than the specified value is detected during battery voltage monitoring in the EPS CM.

•  U3003:17

―  Voltage higher than the specified value is detected during battery voltage monitoring in the EPS CM.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

•  EPAS 60 A fuse malfunction

•  Malfunction in the wiring harness between EPS CM terminal 3A and battery

•  Open circuit in the wiring harness between EPS CM terminal 2A and body ground

•  Battery deterioration

•  Generator malfunction

•  Poor connection at connectors

INSPECT EPS CM POWER SUPPLY FOR MALFUNCTION

•  Measure the voltage between EPS CM terminal 3A and body ground.

•  Is the voltage approx. 10—14 V?

Yes

Go to Step 4.

No

If the voltage is less than 10 V, go to the next step.

If the voltage is more than 14 V, go to Step 3.

INSPECT BATTERY

•  Inspect the electrolyte gravity and voltage of the battery.
(See BATTERY INSPECTION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

•  Is the battery normal?

Yes

Repair or replace the wiring harness (including fuse) between terminal 3A and the battery, then go to Step 4.

No

Recharge or replace the battery, then go to Step 4.

INSPECT GENERATOR

•  Inspect the generator for malfunction.
(See GENERATOR INSPECTION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].)

(See GENERATOR INSPECTION [MZ-CD 1.6].)

•  Is the generator normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the generator, then go to Step 5.

INSPECT EPS CM GROUND FOR MALFUNCTION

•  Inspect for continuity between EPS CM terminal 2A and body ground.

•  Is there continuity?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the wiring harness between terminal 2A and body ground, then go to Step 5.

VERIFY THAT SAME DTC IS NOT PRESENT

•  Clear the DTC from the memory.
(See ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) ON-BOARD DIAGNOSIS.)

•  Is the same DTC present?
(See ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) ON-BOARD DIAGNOSIS.)

Yes

Repeat the inspection from Step 1.

If the malfunction recurs, replace the steering column.

(See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [R.H.D.].)

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT

•  Are any other DTCs output?
(See ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) ON-BOARD DIAGNOSIS.)

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC inspection.

(See ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) ON-BOARD DIAGNOSIS.)

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.

1	INSPECT EPS CM POWER SUPPLY FOR MALFUNCTION • Measure the voltage between EPS CM terminal 3A and body ground. • Is the voltage approx. 10—14 V?	Yes	Go to Step 4.
1		No	If the voltage is less than 10 V, go to the next step. If the voltage is more than 14 V, go to Step 3.
2	INSPECT BATTERY • Inspect the electrolyte gravity and voltage of the battery. (See BATTERY INSPECTION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].) (See BATTERY INSPECTION [MZR 1.3, MZR 1.5].) • Is the battery normal?	Yes	Repair or replace the wiring harness (including fuse) between terminal 3A and the battery, then go to Step 4.

4	INSPECT EPS CM GROUND FOR MALFUNCTION • Inspect for continuity between EPS CM terminal 2A and body ground. • Is there continuity?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Repair or replace the wiring harness between terminal 2A and body ground, then go to Step 5.
5	VERIFY THAT SAME DTC IS NOT PRESENT • Clear the DTC from the memory. (See ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) ON-BOARD DIAGNOSIS.) • Is the same DTC present? (See ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) ON-BOARD DIAGNOSIS.)	Yes	Repeat the inspection from Step 1. If the malfunction recurs, replace the steering column. 5		No	Go to the next step.
