STARTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)]

Warning

•  Remove and install all parts when the engine is cold, otherwise they can cause severe burns or serious injury.

•  When the battery cables are connected, touching the vehicle body with starter terminal B will generate sparks. This can cause personal injury, fire, and damage to the electrical components. Always disconnect the negative battery cable before performing the following operation.

EURO4 emission level

1.  Remove the battery and battery tray. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)].)

2.  Remove the fuel filter protector. (See FUEL FILTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)].)

3.  Set the fuel filter out of the way.

4.  Remove the aerodynamic under cover No.2. (See AERODYNAMIC UNDER COVER NO.2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Remove the vacuum chamber.

6.  Remove in the order indicated in the table.

7.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

EURO5 emission level

2.  Set the shift cable and bracket component out of the way. (See MANUAL TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [B76M-R].)

3.  Remove the aerodynamic under cover No.2. (See AERODYNAMIC UNDER COVER NO.2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove in the order indicated in the table.

5.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Starter Removal Note

1.  Remove the two starter upper bolts from above the engine compartment.

2.  Remove the starter lower bolt and starter from below the engine compartment.
