Measure the battery voltage.
Is the battery voltage 10.0—14.0 V?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace or recharge the battery.

Switch the ignition ON.
When the selector lever is moved, does the selector illumination indicate the position synchronized to the selector lever location?
Also, when other ranges are selected from N or P during idling, does the vehicle move within 1—2 s?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Inspect the selector lever and TR switch.
•  If the selector lever and/or TR switch have a malfunction:
•  If the selector lever and TR switch are normal:
―  Go to the next step.

Verify that there is no CVT fluid leaking from the transaxle case, and the connecting surfaces of the transaxle case and the engine.
Are the CVT (continuously variable transaxle) Is any CVT fluid leakage verified?
Yes
After repairing the spot where there is CVT fluid leakage, add CVT fluid to the correct level.
No
Go to the next step.

Perform the stall test.
Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result.
No
Go to the next step.

Perform the time lag test.
Is the time lag within the specified?
Yes
Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result.
No
Go to the next step.

Perform the road test.
Is the CVT operating normally?
Yes
Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result.
No
Go to the next step.

Warning
•  Removing the measurement plug while the CVT fluid is hot is dangerous. Hot CVT fluid can spray out of the opening and cause severe burns. Before removing the measurement plug, allow the CVT fluid to cool.
Remove the hydraulic pressure detection measurement plug.
Verify if the CVT fluid is dirty and has an odor.
Is the CVT fluid extremely dark, dirty, or giving off a burnt odor?
Yes
Clutch burning or slippage may have occurred.
No
Go to the next step.

Perform the line pressure test.
Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result.
No
Go to the next step.

Inspect the following PCM and TCM PID values using the M-MDS:
PCM PIDs:

TCM PIDs:
•  ACCLMTR
•  BOO
•  DWN_SW
•  ENG_TORQ
•  ISS
•  OIL_PRESS
•  OSS

•  TR
•  TRD
•  TRR
•  TSS
•  UP_SW
•  VPWR
Are the PID values normal?
Yes
Perform the symptom troubleshooting and follow the procedures.
No
Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result.
