THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[ZJ, ZY, Z6]

Without Throttle Valve Actuator

1.  Remove the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

3.  Perform the following procedure for easier access.

Except U.K. specs.
1.  Remove the air cleaner. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)
U.K. specs.
1.  Set the air cleaner cover out of the way. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)
2.  Remove the air cleaner case.

4.  Remove the air hose for easier access.

5.  Remove the TP sensor.

6.  Verify that the throttle valve is fully closed.

7.  Install the TP sensor to the throttle body.

Tightening torque
1.6—2.4 N·m {17—24 kgf·cm, 15—21 in·lbf}

8.  Verify that the throttle valve moves smoothly.

9.  Connect the TP sensor connector.

10.  Verify that the TP sensor output voltage (M-MDS PID: TP) is within the specification when it is open or closed. (See PCM INSPECTION[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)

•  If not within the specification, inspect the TP sensor. (See THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR INSPECTION[ZJ, ZY, Z6].)


With Throttle Valve Actuator

Note
•  The TP sensor cannnot be removed from the throttle body.
