BRAKE SWITCH INSPECTION[EXCEPT MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)]

Caution

• Inspect the brake switch with it installed to the brake pedal, otherwise the brake switch may not operate normally. If the brake switch is removed from the brake pedal, replace the brake switch with a new one.

1. Detach the bonnet release lever from the lower panel. (SeeBONNET LATCH AND RELEASE LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[L.H.D.].) (SeeBONNET LATCH AND RELEASE LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[R.H.D.].)

2. Remove the front scuff plate. (Driver-side) (SeeFRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3. Remove the front side trim. (Driver-side) (SeeFRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4. Remove the lower panel. (See LOWER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5. Remove the column cover. (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

6. Disconnect the brake switch connector.

7. Verify that the continuity is as indicated in the table.

• If not as indicated in the table, replace the brake switch. (See BRAKE PEDAL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[EXCEPT MZ-CD 1.6 (Y6)].)
