Off-Vehicle Inspection

1.  Perform the following procedures.

(1)  Remove the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5, MZR 1.6].)
(2)  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2.  Remove the input/turbine speed sensor. (See INPUT/TURBINE SPEED SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [DJVA-EL].)

3.  Connect the input/turbine speed sensor terminal B to the battery positive terminal, connect the battery negative terminal to input/turbine speed sensor terminal A through an ammeter set to a resistance of 100 ohm.

4.  Wave a magnet back and forth over the top of the input/turbine speed sensor (less than 5 mm {0.2 in}).

Note
•  Wave the magnet back and forth with the sensor area and bolt hole in a straight line which forms a right angle to the magnet.

5.  Inspect the HIGH and LOW signal current values which change by waving the magnetic.

•  If there is any malfunction, replace the input/turbine speed sensor. (See INPUT/TURBINE SPEED SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [DJVA-EL].)

Wiring Harness Inspection

1.  Perform the following procedures.

(1)  Remove the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5, MZR 1.6].)
(2)  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
(3)  Remove the dashboard under cover. (See DASHBOARD UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(4)  Remove the side wall. (See SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(5)  Partially peel back the floor covering. (See FLOOR COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(6)  Disconnect the TCM and TCM bracket as a single unit. (See TCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [DJVA-EL].)

2.  Disconnect the TCM connector.

3.  Inspect the wiring harness between the input/turbine speed sensor and the TCM using a tester.

•  If there is any malfunction, repair or replace the wiring harness.
