DESCRIPTION

Communication error to steering angle sensor

DETECTION CONDITION

•  AFS control module receives the invalid signal of steering angle sensor from BCM when the ignition is ON.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

•  Steering angle sensor initialization procedure is not completed.

•  BCM DTC is stored.

•  Steering angle sensor malfunction

•  BCM malfunction

•  AFS control module malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	PERFORM STEERING ANGLE SENSOR INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE • Perform the steering angle sensor initialization procedure. (See STEERING ANGLE SENSOR INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE.) • Clear the DTC from the AFS control module using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [AFS (ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM)].) • Perform the AFS control module DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [AFS (ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM)].) • Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Go to Step 6.
2	CONFIRM BCM DTC • Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].) • Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [BCM].)
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	INSPECT STEERING ANGLE SENSOR • Inspect the steering angle sensor. (See STEERING ANGLE SENSOR INSPECTION.) • Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Replace the steering angle sensor, then go to Step 5. (See STEERING ANGLE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
3		No	Go to the next step.
4	PERFORM DTC INSPECTION AND VERIFY THAT MALFUNCTIONING PART IS BCM • Clear the DTC from the AFS control module using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [AFS (ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM)].) • Perform the AFS control module DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [AFS (ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM)].) • Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Replace the BCM, then go to the next step. (See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L.H.D.].) (See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [R.H.D.].)
4		No	Go to Step 6.
5	VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED • Clear the DTC from the AFS control module using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [AFS (ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM)].) • Perform the AFS control module DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [AFS (ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM)].) • Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Repeat the inspection from Step 1. • If the malfunction recurs, replace the AFS control module. (See AFS (ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM) CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.) Go to the next step.
5		No	Go to the next step.
6	VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT • Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [AFS (ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM)].)
6		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
