WINDSHIELD WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH INSPECTION

Vehicles With Auto Wiper System

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.0, MZR 2.5].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.3 DISI Turbo].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.0 DISI i-stop].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR-CD 2.2].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5, MZR 1.6].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)

2.  Remove the column cover. (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Remove the wiper and washer switch. (See WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Verify that the resistance and continuity between the windshield wiper and washer switch terminals as indicated in the table.

•  If the continuity is not as indicated in the table, or if the resistance is not within the specification, replace the windshield wiper and washer switch. (See WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Vehicles Without Auto Wiper System

2.  Remove the column cover. (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Remove the wiper and washer switch. (See WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Verify that the resistance and continuity between the windshield wiper and washer switch terminals as indicated in the table.

•  If the continuity is not as indicated in the table, or if the resistance is not within the specification, replace the windshield wiper and washer switch. (See WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
