WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR INSPECTION

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.0, MZR 2.5].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.3 DISI Turbo].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.0 DISI i-stop].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZ-CD 1.6].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR-CD 2.2].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 1.5, MZR 1.6].) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)

2.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Windshield wiper arm and blade (See WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(2)  Front fender molding (See COWL GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Cowl grille (See COWL GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(4)  Center cowl grille No.1, No.2

3.  Disconnect windshield wiper motor connector.

4.  Connect the battery positive voltage to windshield wiper motor terminal A or B, connect terminal C to the ground, then verify the windshield wiper operation.

5.  Verify that the windshield wiper operates as indicated in the following table.

•  If the windshield wipers do not operate as indicated in the table, replace the windshield wiper motor.

6.  Disconnect battery positive voltage from terminal A or B during wiper operation.

7.  Verify that the wipers do not stop in auto stop condition.

8.  Connect windshield wiper motor terminals A and D, and apply battery positive voltage to terminal E.

9.  Verify that the windshield wipers operate at low speed again and they are at the auto stop position.

•  If there is any malfunction, replace the windshield wiper motor.
