Description

•  Autostop switch circuit malfunction

Detection Condition

•  Short to power supply in wiring harness between windshield wiper motor and BCM.

Possible Causes

•  Windshield wiper motor connector or terminals malfunction
•  Windshield wiper motor malfunction
•  BCM connector or terminals malfunction
•  Short to power supply in wiring harness between the following terminals:
―  Windshield wiper motor terminal E—BCM terminal 7J (L.H.D.)
―  Windshield wiper motor terminal A—BCM terminal 7J (R.H.D.)
•  BCM malfunction

PERFORM DTC INSPECTION
•  Clear the DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is the DTC B1C45:12 present?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.

INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR
•  Inspect the windshield wiper motor.
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Replace the windshield wiper motor, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Disconnect the BCM connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT AUTOSTOP SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY
•  Windshield wiper motor and BCM connectors are disconnected.
•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Switch the ignition to ON.
•  Measure the voltage at the following terminal (wiring harness-side):
―  Windshield wiper motor terminal E (L.H.D.)
―  Windshield wiper motor terminal A (R.H.D.)
•  Can the voltage be measured?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to power supply, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
6
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Clear the DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is the DTC B1C45:12 present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the BCM.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
7
VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
