REAR BUMPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Caution
•  Affix the protective tape to the position (body side) shown in the figure.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Trunk covering (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(2)  Trunk board (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Trunk side pocket (See TRUNK SIDE POCKET REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(4)  Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(5)  Rear combination light (See REAR COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(6)  Rear splash shield (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Remove the screw.

4.  Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver under the cover shown in the figure and remove the cover in the direction of the arrow.

5.  Remove the screws.

6.  Remove the fasteners.

7.  Pull the edge of the rear bumper in the direction of arrows (1), (2) and (3) shown in the figure, then remove the tabs.

Caution
•  The rear bumper and rear bumper slider are engaged firmly. If they are disengaged forcibly the bumper could fall and be damaged. Perform the servicing carefully when disengaging the rear bumper from the rear bumper slider.
•  When disengaging the rear bumper from the rear bumper slider, the rear bumper could fall and be damaged. Support the front bumper so that it does not fall.

8.  Hold the shaded areas shown in the figure, pull the rear bumper in the direction of the arrow, and detach the rear bumper from the body and the rear bumper bracket.

9.  Disconnect the connector. (with parking sensor system)

10.  Remove the rear bumper.

11.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

12.  If the rear bumper is replaced, perform the blind spot monitoring (BSM) radar test. (with blind spot monitoring system) (See BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) RADAR TEST [Australian specs.].) (See BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) RADAR AIMING [Except Australian specs.].)

Caution
•  If the rear bumper installation position is changed or individual differences (coating film/thickness) occur, the blind spot monitoring control module radar angle will deviate which could result in the module not detecting a vehicle approaching from the rear correctly. If the rear bumper is replaced, perform the blind spot monitoring (BSM) radar test.

3.  Remove the rear splash shield. (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the screw.
