No sound from audio system

POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  Poor connection of car-navigation unit connector, terminal damage
•  Open circuit in wiring harness between car-navigation unit and each speaker. (without Bose®)
•  Poor connection of audio amplifier connector, terminal damage (with Bose®)
•  Open circuit in wiring harness between car-navigation unit and audio amplifier (with Bose®)
•  Open circuit in wiring harness between audio amplifier and each speaker/tweeter (with Bose®)
•  Audio amplifier malfunction (with Bose®)
•  Speaker or tweeter malfunction
•  Car-navigation unit malfunction

•  Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
•  Start audio system sing the audio control switch.
•  Adjust volume 30 using the audio control switch.
•  Is there sound from all speaker/tweeter?
Yes
The system is normal.
No
Go to the next step.
2
•  Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
•  Disconnect the car-navigation unit connector (24-pin).
•  Inspect both car-navigation unit connector and wiring harness-side connector for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled out pins, corrosion).
•  Are all the pins normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
If the car-navigation unit connector is wrong:
•  Replace the car-navigation unit.
If the wiring harness-side connector is wrong:
•  Repair or replace the pins and/or the connector.

•  Inspect the connection of each speaker and tweeter connector (2-pin).
•  Are the connectors securely connected?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Securely connect the speaker or tweeter.

•  Disconnect the all speaker and tweeter connectors.
•  Inspect both each speaker/tweeter and wiring harness-side connector for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled out pins, corrosion.)
•  Are all the pins normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
If the speaker or tweeter connector is wrong:
•  Replace the suspect part.
If the wiring harness-side connector is wrong:
•  Repair or replace the pins and/or the connector.

•  Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
•  Disconnect the all speaker/tweeter connectors.
•  Inspect the following wiring harness between car-navigation unit connector (24-pin) and each speaker/tweeter (2-pin) terminals.
―  Terminal 1A (24-pin) — front door speaker terminal B (2-pin) (LH+)
―  Terminal 1C (24-pin) — front door speaker terminal A (2-pin) (LH-)
―  Terminal 1A (24-pin) — front tweeter terminal B (2-pin) (LH+)
―  Terminal 1C (24-pin) — front tweeter terminal A (2-pin) (LH-)
―  Terminal 1D (24-pin) — front door speaker terminal B (2-pin) (RH+)
―  Terminal 1F (24-pin) — front door speaker terminal A (2-pin) (RH-)
―  Terminal 1D (24-pin) — front tweeter terminal B (2-pin) (RH+)
―  Terminal 1F (24-pin) — front tweeter terminal A (2-pin) (RH-)
―  Terminal 1S (24-pin) — rear speaker terminal B (2-pin) (LH+)
―  Terminal 1U (24-pin) — rear speaker terminal A (2-pin) (LH-)
―  Terminal 1V (24-pin) — rear speaker terminal B (2-pin) (RH+)
―  Terminal 1X (24-pin) — rear speaker terminal A (2-pin) (RH+)
•  Is there open or short circuit?
Yes
Repair or replace suspected wiring harness.
No
Go to the next step.

•  Inspect each speaker/tweeter.
•  Are all speakers normal?
Yes
Replace the car-navigation unit.
No
Replace the malfunctioning speaker/tweeter.

With Bose®

•  Start audio system using the audio control switch
•  Adjust volume 30 using the audio control switch.
•  Is there sound from all speaker/tweeter?
Yes
The system is normal.
No
Go to the next step.

•  Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
•  Inspect the connection of audio amplifier connector.
•  Is the connector securely connected?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Securely connect the audio amplifier.

•  Disconnect the audio amplifier connector.
•  Inspect both audio amplifier connector and wiring harness-side connector for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled out pins, corrosion).
•  Are all the pins normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
If the audio amplifier connector is wrong:
•  Replace the audio amplifier.
If the wiring harness-side connector is wrong:
•  Repair or replace the pins and/or the connector.

•  Inspect the connection of car-navigation unit connector (24-pin).
•  Is the connector securely connected?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Securely connect the car-navigation unit.

•  Disconnect the car-navigation unit connector (24-pin).
•  Inspect both car-navigation unit connector and wiring harness-side connector for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled out pins, corrosion).
•  Are all the pins normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
If the car-navigation unit connector is wrong:
•  Replace the car-navigation unit.
If the wiring harness-side connector is wrong:
•  Repair or replace the pins and/or the connector.

•  Car-navigation unit and audio amplifier connectors disconnected.
•  Inspect the following wiring harness between the car-navigation unit (24-pin) and audio amplifier.
―  Terminal 1A (24-pin) — audio amplifier terminal 3D (LH+)
―  Terminal 1C (24-pin) — audio amplifier terminal 3C (LH-)
―  Terminal 1D (24-pin) — audio amplifier terminal 3F (RH+)
―  Terminal 1F (24-pin) — audio amplifier terminal 3E (RH-)
―  Terminal 1S (24-pin) — audio amplifier terminal 3H (LH+)
―  Terminal 1U (24-pin) — audio amplifier terminal 3G (LH-)
―  Terminal 1V (24-pin) — audio amplifier terminal 3J (RH+)
―  Terminal 1X (24-pin) — audio amplifier terminal 3I (RH-)
•  Is there open or short circuit?
Yes
Repair or replace suspected wiring harness.
No
Go to the next step.

―  Terminal 2I — front tweeter terminal B (2-pin) (LH+)
―  Terminal 2K — front tweeter terminal A (2-pin) (LH-)
―  Terminal 2O — front door speaker terminal D (2-pin) (RH+)
―  Terminal 2M — front door speaker terminal C (2-pin) (RH-)
―  Terminal 2E — front tweeter terminal B (2-pin) (RH+)
―  Terminal 2G — front tweeter terminal A (2-pin) (RH-)
―  Terminal 1D — rear speaker terminal B (2-pin) (LH+)
―  Terminal 1C — rear speaker terminal A (2-pin) (LH-)
