Vehicle does not move in D, 2, 1 ranges, or in R position

DESCRIPTION

•  Vehicle does not move when accelerator pedal depressed.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

•  If the vehicle does not move in D, 2, 1 ranges or R position, the malfunction is in the ATX. (Vehicle will move even with a malfunction in the PCM.) A malfunction in the sensor circuit or output circuit may cause of the ATX malfunction, inspect the sensors, output circuit, and related wiring harnesses.

1.  Clutch slippage, worn (D, 2, 1 ranges‐Forward clutch, R position‐Reverse clutch, Low and reverse brake)

•  Line pressure low

•  Shift solenoid A, B, or C malfunction

•  3-2 timing solenoid valve malfunction

•  TFT sensor malfunction

•  Sensor GND malfunction

•  Body GND malfunction

•  Control valve body malfunction

2.  Selector lever malfunction

3.  Improper operation of parking mechanism

4.  Torque converter malfunction

Note

•  Before following the troubleshooting steps, make sure that the Automatic Transaxle On‐Board Diagnostic and Automatic Transaxle Basic Inspection are conducted.

Diagnostic procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	With the vehicle is stopped on a flat, level road and engine is off, does the vehicle move when pushed? (In D, 2 ranges or N, R positions with the brake pedal is released)	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Inspect for parking mechanism. (See ATX Workshop Manual (GF4AX-EL))
2	Start engine. Does the vehicle move when the selector lever is in between N position and D range?	Yes	Inspect or adjust the selector lever. (See SELECTOR LEVER INSPECTION.) (See SELECTOR CABLE ADJUSTMENT.)
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	Stop engine and turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Connect the M-MDS to DLC-2. Simulate LPS PID for 50 %. Is operating sound of the pressure control solenoid heard?	Yes	Replace the control valve body. (See ATX Workshop Manual (GF4AX-EL)) If any problem remains, replace or overhaul the transaxle and repair or replace any malfunctioning parts. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE AND TRANSFER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[GF4AX-EL].)
3		No	Inspect connection of the pressure control solenoid terminal on the ATX for bend, damage, corrosion or looseness. Inspect for stuck pressure control solenoid? (See SOLENOID VALVE INSPECTION[GF4AX-EL].) If the pressure control solenoid is normal, inspect for open or short circuit between the PCM terminal 1B and the pressure control solenoid terminal G.
4	• Verify the test results. ― If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms. ― If the malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Information and perform repair or diagnosis. • If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting is completed. • If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace the PCM.
