TRANSFER CASE INSTALLATION [LA4AX-EL (CD4E)]

Caution

• A new transfer case driven gear seal must be installed any time the transfer case is removed. (See TRANSFER CASE DRIVEN GEAR SEAL INSTALLATION [LA4AX-EL (CD4E)].)

1. Install the transfer case.

2. Install the bolts.

3. Connect the transfer case vent hose to the vent tube.

4. Install the bolt.

5. Install the crossmember brace and the four bolts.

6. Install the bracket and the six bolts.

7. Install the exhaust manifold (RH). (See EXHAUST MANIFOLD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [YF (2.0L Zetec)].) (See EXHAUST MANIFOLD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ (3.0L Duratec)].)

8. Install the joint shaft. (See JOINT SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [YF (2.0 L Zetec), AJ (3.0 L Duratec)].)

9. Install the heat shield.

10. Install the three bolts.

11. Install the exhaust front pipe. (See FRONT PIPE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ (3.0L Duratec)].)

12. Install the propeller shaft. (See PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

13. Inspect the transfer oil level. (See TRANSFER OIL REPLACEMENT [LA4AX-EL (CD4E)].)

14. Connect the negative battery cable.

15. Inspect the ATF level. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) INSPECTION [LA4AX-EL (CD4E)].)
