INSPECTION AND ASSEMBLY REQUIREMENTS

id071100803600

Caution
• To prevent refrigerant system contamination and possible failure of the new A/C compressor, carry out the following procedures:

1. Remove the A/C compressor. (See A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ (3.0L Duratec)].)(See A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3].)(See A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [YF (2.0L Zetec)].)

(1) Drain the residual compressor oil from the A/C compressor and measure the volume for correct system oil matching. (See COMPRESSOR OIL ADDING.)

2. Remove the accumulator tank. (See ACCUMULATOR TANK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L.H.D.].)(See ACCUMULATOR TANK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [R.H.D.].)

(1) Drain the residual refrigerant oil from the accumulator tank and measure the volume for correct oil system matcHing.
Note
• The accumulator tank cannot be cleaned and new components must be installed.

3. Carry out an A/C system flushing or filtering procedure:

(1) If A/C system flushing equipment is available, clean the evaporator core and the condenser by flushing. (See A/C SYSTEM FLUSHING.)
(2) If A/C system flushing equipment is not available, carry out the Refrigerant System Filtering After A/C Compressor Replacement. (See REFRIGERANT SYSTEM FILTERING FOLLOWING A/C COMPONENT INSTALLATION.)
Note
• System flushing is the preferred method of cleaning. However, if flushing equipment is not available, carry out system filtering.

4. Install the new A/C compressor. (See A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ (3.0L Duratec)].)(See A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3].)(See A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [YF (2.0L Zetec)].)

5. Install the new suction accumulator/drier. (See ACCUMULATOR TANK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L.H.D.].)(See ACCUMULATOR TANK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [R.H.D.].)

6. Correctly oil match the system. (See COMPRESSOR OIL ADDING.)

7. Evacuate and charge the system. (See A/C SYSTEM EVACUATION AND CHARGING.)
